The BT天堂United Way campaign is scheduled to begin soon according to Governmental Relations Director Jeff Pitchford, who is this year?s chair.
?We are excited about this year and expect some good results. There is a great committee and we are all working hard to ensure a successful effort,? he said.
This year?s committee includes Pat Cantrell, dean of the College of Business Administration; Gayle Seymour, faculty representative; David Dennison, staff representative; Lindsay Wygal, student representative and Pitchford.
The goal for BT天堂this year is $30,000 and the committee is working to raise this amount through several methods. The traditional letter campaign will begin around the end of the month. All BT天堂employees will be sent a pledge card and payroll deduction form. Individuals may fill out the form, return it to Human Resources and the contribution will be automatically deducted from their monthly check.
?Payroll deductions are the easiest way to give. Just fill out the form once and the rest of the year is taken care of. Plus, it can be done in smaller increments compared to making one donation,? Pitchford said. ?We receive monthly payroll deductions from one dollar a month to one hundred dollars a month. Every dollar counts. For individuals who prefer to give in one donation, the process is the same; simply send the contribution to the Human
Resources Office.?
BT天堂also will hold a chili supper Thursday, Nov. 13. The event will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center. This year?s supper will precede the Pat Green concert that will be held in the Reynolds Performance Hall. Tickets for the supper are on sale now and may be purchased in the Student Center or by calling 450-3170.
Tickets also may be purchased from any of the committee members, or at the door the night of the event. The tickets are $6 per person, or $5 for BT天堂students and children under 12.
Students from BT天堂also are working on the United Way campaign. This will be the third year for BT天堂Greek organizations to sponsor the Fall Festival Carnival at Big Brothers, Big Sisters. In addition, student organizations will be participating in the dollar-a-member campaign and will be help sell tickets for the chili supper in the Student Center.
Overall, Pitchford is predicting a solid effort this year. ?We have tremendous support at BT天堂for United Way. From President Hardin to the faculty, the staff, even the students, everyone understands the importance of giving something back to the community.?
