The University of Central Arkansas recently hosted its annual Doyne Legacy Society brunch at Buffalo Alumni Hall on the BTcampus.
The April 21 event welcomed new members and celebrated the 118 total members who are part of the , made up of individuals who have committed to including BTas part of their estate plans.
“Members of the Doyne Legacy Society play a special role in making sure that BTand its graduates continue to be a force for good well into the future,” BTpresident Houston Davis said at the event. “Because of your engagement, our students’ lives are being transformed. And, as graduates, they in turn are transformative forces for good throughout Arkansas, across the nation and around the world.”
Named for John James Doyne, UCA’s first president, the Doyne Legacy Society includes alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the university who have made a planned gift of $2,500 or more to BTas part of their estate plans.
A planned or legacy gift is when a donor arranges for a donation to an organization that will happen in the future. Some common planned giving options include bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts and beneficiary designation gifts such as life insurance policies or retirement accounts.
“Legacy gifts are an important part of our BTNow campaign,” said Mary Bane Lackie, UCA’s vice president of university advancement. “As we close in on our $100 million goal, planned gifts make up more than 15 percent of the $94 million we have raised so far. We are so thankful for legacy gifts and the pathways of success that they will provide for BTand its students for years to come.”
