The University of Central Arkansas Symphonic and University Bands will be in concert for the final time this spring on April 26 in the Snow Fine Arts Center Recital Hall.

The concert, free and open to the public, is set for 7:30 p.m.

Associate Director of Bands Brantley Douglas said the evening would include a wide variety of music.

Program for the University Band will include 鈥淔lourish for Wind Band鈥� by Williams, conducted by senior music education major Davis Norton; 鈥淎merican Jubilee鈥� by Booker, conducted by graduate wind conducting major Mykala Parker; 鈥淭he Wayfaring Stranger鈥� by Rouse, conducted by graduate wind conducting major Justin Gavito; 鈥淥verture In B Flat鈥� by Giovannini, conducted by graduate wind conducting major Cody Ford; and 鈥淚maginarium鈥� by Standridge, conducted by graduate wind conducting major McKenzie Vivianno.

Program for the Symphonic Band will include 鈥淕avorkna Fanfare鈥� by Stamp, conducted by Vivianno; 鈥淏lack Is the Color Of My True Love鈥檚 Hair鈥� by Reed, conducted by Gavito; and 鈥淭he Divine Comedy鈥� by Smith, conducted by Douglas.

鈥淥f particular note is 鈥楾he Divine Comedy鈥�,鈥� Douglas said. 鈥淭his four-movement work requires the band to sing, chant, stomp their feet and make other interesting music effects with lots of percussion. It is a very powerful piece that is based on Dante Alighieri’s literary classic of the same name.鈥�
