CONWAY â Hermanâs Hermits, starring Peter Noone, and The Lettermen will perform at the University of Central Arkansas at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall.
The concert, part of UCAâs homecoming festivities, is part of BTĚěĚĂPublic Appearancesâ Nostalgia Series.
âWe wanted to kick off the homecoming weekend with a fun concert,â said Jerry Biebesheimer, director of BTĚěĚĂPublic Appearances. âIt doesnât get much more fun than The Lettermen and Hermanâs Hermitâs with Peter Noone together in one concert.â
At 15, Noone achieved international fame as âHermanâ the lead singer of the legendary 1960s pop band Hermanâs Hermits. Their hits included âMrs. Brown Youâve Got a Lovely Daughter,â âIâm Into Something Good,â and âWonderful World.â As Herman, the photogenic Noone graced the cover of nearly every international publication. He guest-starred in many popular television shows such as Laverne and Shirley and Married ⌠With Children and has many Broadway and film credits to his name.
Tony Butala, Donovan Tea and Mark Preston make up The Lettermen, with a sound that is a cross between big band vocal and early R&B rock. During the turbulent â60s, the group stood by its All-American, clean-cut, no drugs image even though it may have been a drawback in the hard rock era. The Lettermen had 25 hit singles, including âHurt So Bad,â âTheme from A Summer Place,â and âCanât Take My Eyes Off You.â
Tickets, available at the BTĚěĚĂTicket Central Box Office, are $30-$40 for adults, $27-$37 for senior citizens, $25-35 for BTĚěĚĂalumni, $28-$33 for BTĚěĚĂfaculty and staff, and $10 for all students.
