On Thursday, November 13 (National Humanities Month), the 2014 Humanities Fair will be held at the Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center at BT天堂from 9:45 a.m. (registration), with programs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. The Humanities Fair is supported in part by a grant from the Arkansas Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
It is open to high school students and their teachers to enable students to experience a typical day attending university humanities courses. Students will have their choice of attending sessions conducted by BT天堂professors in Philosophy, Religious Studies, History, English, Anthropology, African and African American Studies, Geography, Political Science, Latino and Latin American Studies, Asian Studies, and Gender Studies. BT天堂faculty will make presentations exploring the chosen theme of 鈥淗umanities and the Environment.”
Although it is not required, students are encouraged to submit original humanities projects to the Fair鈥檚 competition. Awards will be presented to highlight excellence and creativity in the areas of Poetry, Short Story, Essay, or Multimedia Presentation. Student projects based on the theme are welcome, as are projects on other topics.
