French Professor Won Grant To Host Film Festival

BT天堂French Professor Katelyn Knox recently won a grant to host a French film festival, Tourn茅es, this fall.

The event will consist of six screening, which will be free and open to the general public, of award-winning films that are either in English or have English subtitles.1

The five films, rated PG-13 and up, will be screened on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. between October 30 and November 13.

Each of these films will be followed by reflections by a panel of three BT天堂professors from a variety of departments as well as an interactive audience question and answer session.

The other screening will be family-friendly event held on Saturday, November 7, 2015.

From 5:00 to 5:30 p.m., a French culture fair with games and activities for kids and their families will be held, and a聽movie will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

All of the screenings will take place in Brewer Hegeman Conference Center.

BT天堂Study Abroad Program Summer 2015 Proved Successful

UCA’s faculty-led study abroad program was a huge success this summer.

Seventy-five students participated聽in聽faculty-led programs all over the world.

Students traveled to places like Florence, Italy (for BT天堂in Florence) and London, England (for Theatre in London).

Other locations included聽Costa Rica and Shanghai, China for a language immersion program.

Forensics Team Completed Successful Semester

The University of Central Arkansas鈥檚 forensics team recently completed a successful semester of International Public Debate Association competition.

The team, coached by Anthony McMullen, had high finishes in several events in聽the 2014-15 IPDA season in the IPDA National Championship Tournament in Boise, Idaho.

The BT天堂team earned 2nd Place in the Scholastic Cup, which covers points accumulated in the novice, varsity and team divisions of IPDA, and 3rd Place Overall, which covers all divisions of IPDA at the National Championship, including the team championship hosted by BT天堂two weeks ago. This is out of thirty-two teams from colleges and universities across the country.

For the season, in addition to the team division awards from two weeks ago, UCA’s novice division was ranked fifth in the nation for the season out of 91 teams, and freshman Leia Smith from Cabot, Arkansas was recognized as the top novice speaker for the entire season.

Marketing & Fashion Merchandising Class Took Field Trip To Texas With BT天堂President

BT天堂professor聽Dr. Don Bradley’s Marketing/Fashion Merchandising class went to Dallas, Texas on a field trip in March of 2015. The 30+ students and accompanying faculty and administrators were treated to tours as well as question and answer sessions by top level executives at聽Dallas Cowboys Merchandising Complex,聽AT&T Stadium (Cowboys/Jerry Jones Stadium),聽Nordstrom, a high-end retail department store in the Dallas Galleria Mall, and the聽Dallas World Trade Center/Wholesale Market Complex.

Dr. Bradley’s marketing classes take field trips in both the Fall and Spring Semesters. BT天堂students can leave their resume’s with the various organizations visited, and frequently internships and jobs have resulted. In Fact, a recent BT天堂graduate, Lacey Edwards, was managing one of the wholesale spaces at the Dallas Trade Center.
