Alan Moskin was born in Englewood, New Jersey on May 30, 1926. He attended Syracuse University both before and after his military service in World War II and graduated in May 1948.

He then attended New York University Law School, graduating with a J.D. degree in June 1951. He practiced law as a civil trial attorney in New Jersey for over 20 years and subsequently worked in the private business sector until he retired in 1991.

Alan was drafted into the military service at the age of 18 and served in the Unites States Army during World War II from September 1944 until August 1946. He was a member of the 66th infantry, 71st Division, part of General George Patton’s 3rd Army. Alan’s outfit fought in combat through France, Germany, and Austria during which time he was promoted in rank from Private to Staff Sergeant.

At the beginning of May 1945, his Company participated in the liberation of the Gunskirchen Concentration Camp, a sub-camp of Mauthausen. After the war ended, Alan remained in Europe until June 1946 as a member of the U.S. Army of Occupation.

Alan presently resides in Nanuet, New York and speaks extensively about his experiences as an infantry combat soldier and a “Concentration Camp” liberator.

Over 500 individuals attended the event which was held in the BT天堂Student Center Ballroom from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Fair is sponsored by the Office of Student Wellness and Development. The director, Jenna Davidson said, “Students benefit from attending the fair and it is a great learning opportunity.”

Vendors in attendance included: Conway Regional Health System, Hurley Chiropractic and Wellness Center, Smoothie King, American Heart Hospital, GNC, Arkansas Department of Health, PrimeCare, Susan G. Komen, Walgreens, and several BT天堂departments. Lauren Allinson, with Aramark had a colorful table with fruits and vegetables for students to sample.
“We are incredibly thankful for the time and effort given by vendors and staff to educate our students,” said Davidson.

Girls from high schools in central Arkansas such as Conway, Vilonia, Bigelow and Mayflower attended the event that featured a keynote address from Ark. Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin.

High school students are learning about careers in geology from Arkansas Geological Survey’s Sandra Chandler. “Everything around us comes from something. Most of it comes from the Earth.

There were six workshop sessions going on throughout the day, and each girl attended three sessions based on an interest survey that they completed prior to arrival. The sessions offered will be Geology, Genetics Counseling, Endocrinology, FBI – Evidence Recovery Team, Computer Science (afternoon only), and Nursing (nursing SIM lab in BT天堂nursing department). Our hope is to expose the girls to STEM careers and to encourage them to pursue jobs in STEM.

The Third Annual STEM Leadership for Girls day kicked off with inspiring and encouraging welcoming messages from BT天堂Associate VP for Communications, Public Relations, and Marketing Christina Mu帽oz-Madsen.

The goal of the conference was to expose the girls to STEM careers and to encourage them to pursue jobs in STEM.

Lt. Governor Tim Griffin聽was among the speakers to the girls attending the third annual STEM Leadership for Girls Day event.

The welcome began at 8:20 a.m., which included UCA’s very own Christina Madsen, Lt. Governor Tim Griffin, and representatives from Wal-Mart who will be speaking about Million Women Mentors.

Representatives in STEM fields from Arkansas businesses and organizations such as Acxiom, Arkansas Children鈥檚 Hospital and the FBI also hosted learning sessions throughout the day.

Anna Beth Gorman, a representative for Million Women Mentors of Arkansas, spoke to the girls to kick off the day’s events.

Attendees learned more about the Million Women Mentors initiative, which supports the engagement of one million STEM mentors to increase the interest and confidence of girls and women to persist and succeed in STEM programs and careers.

During his first night at UCA, David Cutler and his music were featured in “Concert and Conversation: Borrowing, Stealing, and Breaking the Rules” at 7:30 in the Snow Fine Arts Recital Hall.

“Concert and Conversation” was reimagining what music can be. The event began at 7:30 in the Recital Hall and featured several of Cutler’s compositions.

Cutler balances a varied career as a jazz and classical composer, pianist, educator, arranger, conductor, collaborator, concert producer, author, blogger, consultant, speaker, advocate and entrepreneur. In fact, a recent career diagram illustrated that he maintains no less than 24 income streams!

One of the world鈥檚 leading voices on arts leadership, career, and Cutler鈥檚 book 鈥淭he Savvy Musician: Building a Career, Earning a Living, & Making a Difference鈥 was heralded by Jeffrey Zeigler of the Kronos Quartet as “Hands down, the most valuable resource available for aspiring musicians.”

Cutler is director of Music Entrepreneurship at the University of South Carolina, and he also teaches there.

 

Cutler, one of the world鈥檚 leading voices on arts career and entrepreneurship training, has offered ground-breaking seminars for organizations such as the Julliard School, Dutch Classical Music Meeting, New World Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Music America. In 2013, he founded The SAVVY Arts Venture Challenge, an experiential workshop that trains participants to innovate, collaborate and build arts-businesses from the ground up. In June 2016, he directed a College Music Society Summit focused on the future of 21st century college music schools.
