The BT天堂Department of Nursing announced聽that four BT天堂Level聽3 nursing students were selected for the Central Arkansas聽Veterans Health Care System, Veterans Affairs Learning Opportunities聽Residency (VALOR) Program.
The 2016 VALOR recipients are聽Alexandra Hufford,聽Christina Rapaal,聽Taylor Willis and聽Chloe Wren.
The VALOR program was initiated in the summer of 1990, this program聽provides opportunities for outstanding BSN students to develop聽competencies in clinical nursing at an approved VA health care聽facility. Opportunities for learning include didactic or classroom聽experiences, competency-based clinical practice with a qualified registered nurse聽preceptor, and participation in nursing-focused聽clinical conferences. Students recruited for the program must have聽completed the final semester or quarter of the junior year in an聽Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or a聽Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) of the American聽Association of Colleges of Nursing accredited baccalaureate or generic聽equivalent nursing program. Students may be appointed on a full or聽part-time basis during the summer months and may continue during their聽senior academic year on a part-time basis. The aggregate hours that a聽student may be funded while in the program is up to 800 hours.
