The Conway Symphony Orchestra opened its 30th Anniversary season with a concert entitled “Thrilling at 30” Saturday, 聽November 1, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in the Reynolds Performance Hall at UCA.
The concert opened with the world premiere of聽Free Flight: Gliding Over Arkansas聽by composer Paul Dickinson, Assoc. Professor of Composition and Music Theory at UCA.
The newly commissioned work is based on Dickinson’s hang gliding adventures around the state. 聽Professor of Flute Carolyn Brown was featured in Cecile Chaminade’s lyrical聽Concertino for Flute and Orchestra. 聽The concert closed with the always exciting Symphony No. 2 (The “Little Russian”) by Tchaikovsky.
